CLINIC LABORATORY AND HISTOPATHOLOGY

GreenCity Medical Center’s Clinical Laboratory aims to provide quality laboratory services responsive to the needs of its patients in partnership with various physicians and health care practitioners.  The laboratory caters to basic and special laboratory tests thru the different areas of specialty which includes Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Clinical Microscopy, Immunology-Serology, Bacteriology and Histopathology.

Clinical Chemistry
This specialized area in the laboratory facilitates diagnosis thru efficient performance of different laboratory tests for different analytes such as glucose, cholesterol, creatinine, protein and many others. 
Hematology
This section in the laboratory allows diagnosing and monitoring various disorders and conditions such as hemophilia, anemia, leukemia, dengue fever, thalassemia, lupus erythematosus, multiple myeloma and many others. Complete Blood Count or CBC and platelet count are the two (2) most common tests performed in the said area of the laboratory.
Clinical Microscopy
Services offered in this section includes analysis of urine, fecal specimens, vaginal secretions and other body fluids such as cerebrospinal, synovial, seminal, amniotic, pleural, pericardial and peritoneal fluids. 
Immunology-Serology
This advanced area in the laboratory helps in the diagnosis of various infections (such as HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, etc.), detection of tumor markers (CEA, AFP, PSA, CA 19-9, etc.), quantitation of concentration of certain hormones (such as TSH, T3, T4, HCG, etc.) and monitoring of levels of various antibodies such as anti-HBs, Total IgE, cardiolipin antibodies, Diabetes autoantibodies, etc.)
Bacteriology
Isolation and identification of different disease-causing bacteria is the main function.  After its successful identification, its susceptibility or vulnerability to different antibiotics is tested to find the most cost-effective measure for treatment.
Histopathology
Procedures in this modern section of the laboratory are related to the processing of tissue specimen to aid in the diagnosis of various conditions and diseases.  Common tests catered includes Papanicolaou test or Pap smear, Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB) and stat frozen sections.
Blood Bank
Blood Bank or Immunohematology section of the laboratory is responsible for the performance of diagnostic laboratory procedures that would ensure safe blood transfusion, investigate any cross-matching incompatibilities and transfusion reactions as well as screen donors and blood units for transfusion transmissible infections (TTIs) which includes HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Malaria, Syphilis. The section is open twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven days a week to ensure continuous supply of blood when and where needed.
