PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of GreenCity Medical Center offers comprehensive rehabilitation services to pediatric and geriatric patients suffering from neurologic conditions such as stroke and spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal cases such as deconditioning syndrome and neck and back pain and sports related injuries.

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians evaluate the patients and prescribe the appropriate therapeutic programs and exercises with the goal of assisting the patients to recover from injuries and disabilities and be able to return to their near normal state. Our PMR physicians are assisted by our board certified Physical and Occupational Therapists and Speech Language Pathologist who carry out the prescribed programs.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy or Physiotherapy aids individuals of all ages in the restoration, preservation, and promotion of optimal physical function that are based on ascertain theoretical and scientific clinical medicine.It also promotes optimal fitness and quality of life by preventing the onset, signs and symptoms of impairments such as functional limitations and disabilities.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy is a patient-centered profession whose primary goal is to enable people to achieve their optimal independence, well-being, and quality of life through participation in their valued activities/occupation.

In pediatric setting, it helps children develop the skills they need to be a high-functioning independent adult regardless of their conditions. In geriatric practice, it helps adults to restore and/or compensate for their lost skills to achieve maximum participation in their daily occupation.

Speech-Language Therapy

Speech-Language Therapy addresses treatment, support, and care for children and adults who have challenges in language, communication, or with eating, drinking, and swallowing. The overall goal is to aid the person to communicate in more useful and functional ways.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a medically supervised program that covers an array of cardiovascular conditions such as Myocardial Infarction, Heart Failure, Arrhythmias and valvular diseases as well as post-operative cases such as Angioplasty, Pacemaker implants, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft among others for the improvement of one’s cardiovascular health. It offers a specific exercise counselling and regime, education for a heart-healthy living, and counselling for better stress management.
